Depeche Mode: Die volle Dröhnung!

Nein, halbe Sachen liegen Depeche Mode einfach nicht. Deswegen gibt es am 14. November mit dem DVD-Boxset „Depeche Mode Live In Berlin“, das aus zwei DVDs, einer Doppel-Live-CD sowie der 13. Studioplatte „Delta Machine“ im hochauflösenden 5.1-Surroundklang auf Blu-ray-Audio-Disc besteht, die volle Breitseite der Wave-Pop-Legenden. Vergangenen November ließ die Band zwei ihrer energetischen Performances in der Berliner o2-World mitschneiden, und aus den beiden Auftritten formte Star-Fotograf und –Regisseur Anton Corbijn einen zweistündigen Konzertfilm, der keine Wünsche offen lassen dürfte.
Hauptaugenmerk des Live-Materials lag auf dem 13. Studioalbum „Delta Machine“, das im März 2013 auf Anhieb des ersten Platz der Charts in zwölf Ländern erobern konnte. Die anschließende Welttournee führte Depeche Mode in über 32 Länder, 2,4 Millionen Menschen jubelten Dave Gahan, Martin Gore und Andy „Fletch“ Fletcher dabei zu. Dass sich das Trio mit dem Konzertmitschnitt für Berlin entschied, wertet den Fanatismus der damals anwesenden Hauptstädter gegenüber ihren Helden nochmals auf.
Auf der ersten DVD des Boxsets befinden sich die besten Takes der zwei Berlin-Auftritte vereint zum Konzert „Live in Berlin“, wohingegen die zweite Disc mit 15 verschiedenen Interviewsequenzen, Behind-The-Scenes-Material und einem Akustikset in Berlins ältestem Bordell, dem „Salon Bel Ami“, zur Konzertdokumentation „Alive In Berlin“ zusammengeschnitten wurde. Auf den beiden normalen Audio-CDs befindet sich der komplette Live-Genuss nochmals in Albumform. Für die Blu-ray Disc wurden die Spuren von „Delta Machine“ neu im hochauflösenden 5.1-Raumklang abgemischt, was dem ohnehin schon hervorragenden Material mehr Dynamik verleiht.
„Berlin hat bei Depeche Mode schon immer einen besonderen Platz im Herzen eingenommen“, betont Corbijn die Entscheidung, den Konzertfilm in der deutschen Metropole aufzunehmen. „‘Alive In Berlin‘ versucht, die besondere Beziehung der Band mit ihren Hauptstadt-Fans in Interviews und Live-Sequenzen in Einklang zu setzen“, erzählt der niederländische Künstler weiter. Und das ist ihm zweifellos auch gelungen.
